Payment of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payments (PIP) for a child in hospital
Young people accessing a Children and Young People's Mental health inpatient service are entitled to apply for benefits. This includes Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payments (PIP).
These benefits are not means tested and do not stop because a young person is in hospital.
If your young person is under 18 when they become an inpatient, DLA or PIP can continue in hospital. Please see the below link for more information - Payment of Disability Living Allowance for a child in hospital (contact.org.uk)
